Well it’s pretty obvious that if you have a business in today’s society then you need to be seriously considering how readily available information about your business services and products can be found.
If someone is looking on the internet for your business website and they don’t find it, then chances are they will find someone else’s.
Of course you want to keep your customers and also attract new ones. But not everyone can dedicate 20+ hours a week on marketing, or allocate tens of thousands of dollars a year on advertising.
I’ve got some good news. It’s not just about attracting everybody and anybody to your business, but rather understanding what your customers are looking for, and then making webpages that offer that information to them. You want to engage those readers, provide the answers that they are searching for, and then open the doors for them to become your clients.
Is it that simple?
Well, yes and no, but let’s start with an overview of how the Google search pages work, search engine marketing and search engine optimisation. I’ve prepared a video that shows you how this all works, so sit back and in no time at all you will understand more.
When your website is designed and created by David Tiong Web Design, I use some of these search engine optimisation (SEO) tips to maximise your chances of being listed and found by Google. I also submit your website’s URL to Google to speed up the process.
So what can you do to improve your SEO?
You can continue to improve your SEO by working on your page rank. The best way to start off this process is to have a listing for your website on Google local maps and also on all of the online local search directories. When you create these listings, which are often free, make sure that you put a link back to your website. This creates more incoming links to your website, and as they are coming from websites that have higher page rank, then your page rank will also increase over time. Ensure that you choose directories that are well known and reputable.
Consider creating a Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page for your website. If you create profiles on these social media websites, then you can link back to your website and further improve your incoming link quality. Just remember though that you will have to dedicate time to maintain these profiles, as it doesn’t look good if you don’t update regularly the information for your followers to read.
The other area that you can work on as a business is to compile a list of the questions that you are most often asked by customers and clients. If you see that a particular topic is very important to your clients, then maybe it is important to many other potential customers out there.
You could consider having some extra pages added to your website that will provide information and answers for those questions and specifically target certain keywords that are part of those queries. That way you can further improve the likelihood that people will find you when searching on Google.
All of these little things that you do, add up to improve your SEO, and ultimately will help you to be found in the organic search engine results.
